Artistry iNMOtion
Creative Wellness for the NMOSD Community
What is Artistry iNMOtion?
Living with NMOSD can be overwhelming — physically, emotionally, and mentally. The Artistry iNMOtion Art & Wellness Program was developed in response to the isolation many NMOSD and rare disease patients and caregivers experience, offering tools that support coping, self-expression, true self-care, and connection that extends beyond the workshop itself. These guided art and wellness workshops invite participants to slow down, connect, and express themselves through creativity and process-focused art in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.

Indigo Art Therapy Studio
Indigo Art Therapy Studio is the dearly appreciated long-standing creative and wellness partner behind Artistry iNMOtion. Kelly DeSousa, MS, ATR-BC and Devon Schlegel, MA, LMHC, ATR-BC bring board-certified art therapy expertise to a program thoughtfully designed for individuals and families living with NMOSD.
Through this collaboration, Indigo’s art therapists develop and facilitate virtual, trauma-informed, and non-clinical workshops that prioritize accessibility, mindfulness, curiosity, and self-expression over artistic skill or outcome. Their process-focused approach is rooted in adaptations for fatigue, low vision, motor limitations, and cognitive challenges which has been reported to reduce isolation while fostering emotional well-being, creativity, and meaningful connection.
Together, Patient Health Alliance and Indigo Art Therapy have created a compassionate, inclusive space where NMOSD patients and caregivers can find calm, community, and supportive tools that extend beyond each session and into daily life.

“This program allows me to focus on just myself for two hours (my family also understands that this is truly me time). It gets me out of my own head and brings out playfulness. NMO can be isolating, but through this program I am able to feel part of a community with people who are understanding because we are each struggling with this disease in one way or another. It gives me a sort of mental reset each time. I am so very grateful for the facilitators and for all who are involved in making this program available. I look forward to it each month and will continue to participate for as long as I am able.”
